Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Nadiem Makarim to abolish the implementation of the national examination (UN) in 2021 cannot be contested. Because, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) supports the decision.
The national examination/ujian nasional (UN) in 2021 will be replaced by the Minimum Competency Assessment and Character Survey.
"I think we support what has been decided by the Minister of Education and Culture," Jokowi said after inaugurating the Jakarta-Cikampek Flyover on Thursday (12/12).
Jokowi said that based on Nadiem's decision, the implementation of the National Examination was not carried out in 2021. The national examination, said Jokowi, was replaced by the Minimum Competency Assessment and Character Survey.
"It means that the assessments are schools, teachers and there is also a character survey," he said.
From that it can be used as an evaluation. Our education is to what level, to what level. "It's already calculated, calculated," Jokowi added.
The former mayor of Solo stated that each school would have a value after the Minimum Competency Assessment and Character Survey were conducted. Schools that have grades below the specified number will be encouraged to increase their level.
"It will be seen which schools need to be injected," he said.
Jokowi said the central government has a policy to change the education system, including the matter of the implementation of the UN. According to him, if this new policy can improve the quality of education, the government will continue.
"If this policy really can improve the quality of education, we will continue to live it," he said.
