President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) released the initial export of 120 units of Isuzu Traga using 53.5 percent of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) to the Philippines, at the PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia factory, in Ciampel District, Karawang Regency, West Java (West Java), Thursday (12/12/2019).
In his remarks President Jokowi welcomed the first export of Isuzu Traga even though it was only aimed at one country. He hopes that in three years Isuzu Traga will be able to enter the 20 countries, both Africa, East Asia and Middle Eastern countries.
"This is what the government expects by this country. Our exports are increasing, increasing continuously, which in the end we expect our current account, our deficit to decrease and our trade balance will also be able to surplus," President Jokowi said.
To that end, if currently only able to export 300,000 units of cars in one, President Jokowi challenged the national automotive industry to be able to issue a minimum of 1 million units from Indonesia in 2024.
"How do you not want to know, what is clear now is that Pak Prijono (Prijono Sugiarto, President Director of PT Isuzu Astra Moto, ed) has shaken hands with the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Industry, which means it is very serious. If now 8 billion US dollars means three times 24 billion US dollars must come out of our automotive exports," said President Jokowi.
The Head of State requested that the automotive industry entrepreneurs imagine that they cannot (increasing exports 3-fold, red). He admitted that many people are often pessimistic about things about numbers, but once there is a realization of surprise it can also be done.
"We are often not confident, often pessimistic. That's what? Yes, because work never uses measurable, realistic targets. God willing, this will be realized, "said the Head of State.
On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of PT. Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia made an initial export of 120 units of Isuzu Traga commercial vehicles to the Philippines. Likewise, the target submitted by the President of PT Isuzu Astra Motor to increase its exports to 6,000 units of Isuzu Traga per year.
The Head of State also highly appreciates PT. Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia, which has collaborated with vocational schools around the industry, by providing training to vocational students, and providing examples, providing good ways of working, as well as transmitting a good work culture of hard work discipline to them.
"I really appreciate if they are included later after graduating to become employees at PT. This Isuzu," said the Head of State.
Also present at the export release included Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, and Karawang Regent Cellica Nurrachadiana.
