President Joko Widodo or Jokowi wants to evaluate the direction of fighting corruption in Indonesia. He will also summon all leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission or the KPK.
"I think we should evaluate the entire program that has been running for almost 20 years," Jokowi said after attending the 2019 World Anti-Corruption Day Commemoration at SMKN 57 South Jakarta, Monday, December 9, 2019.
Not yet known when the summons will be made. KPK leaders are known to change on December 21, 2019.
Jokowi highlighted a number of things related to fighting corruption. One of them is about building a prevention system to prevent corruption.
This is related to the Operation of Catching Hands (OTT) that has been carried out by the KPK. According to Jokowi, OTT should be accompanied by improvement.
"Enforcement is necessary but after repression there must be an improvement in the system of entry to the agency. For example, in one province there was a governor arrested. After being arrested, it should be an improvement in the system entering there," he said.
In addition, he also highlighted the process of political recruitment. This is considered important to note.
"The process of political recruitment is very important. Do not let political recruitment require large costs. So that later people will look at how to return it. It's dangerous," said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.
Related to these matters, Jokowi also reminded the KPK about the focus of future performance. This will be conveyed in a meeting with KPK leaders later.
"Therefore, I will soon meet with the KPK to prepare the things that I am conveying. Either to convey the improvement of the system, both the recruitment of the system in politics. The third is about the focus on the KPK. Whether the improvement is on the regional executive side or the central government side or "the police or prosecutors. So the focus must be determined so that it is not sporadic. Evaluation is very necessary," he said.
