Golkar Chairperson Airlangga Hartanto is said to have met with senior banyan parties. Golkar seniors who will meet Airlangga include Aburizal Bakrie, Agung Laksono, Akbar Tanjung, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, and Jusuf Kalla.
Golkar Secretary General, Lodewijk F. Paulus said the meeting would be held at the Solitaire Hotel, Serpong, South Tangerang, Monday (2/12) tonight. Later Airlangga will report the support it has received from Golkar regional officials throughout Indonesia to these figures.
"So we inform you that [the regional administration] supports Airlangga. After that, of course we hope there will be guidance and direction from him - he is a senior Golkar to us - we are Airlangga's team and the owner of voting rights," Lodewijk said at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, Jakarta, Monday (2/12).
Furthermore, Lodewijk claimed it had traveled to many administrators of the Golkar region to find out how much support it had for Airlangga at the National Conference.
"We have been around and know how many support Airlangga. Only these seniors are called seniors, we have to put them in the right place," he said.
In addition, Lodewijk claimed Airlangga had won support from Luhut Binsar Panjaitan as one of the senior Golkar parties at the National Conference. He was reluctant to link Luhut's support as support from the Palace for Airlangga at the National Conference.
"We see Luhut is not a Coordinating Minister but a senior Golkar party who happens to support Pak Airlangga," he said
Lodewijk himself claimed that Airlangga had pocketed 514 votes consisting of a combined board of DPD level I and II Golkar parties throughout Indonesia.
He stated that he wanted to receive the support in written form rather than merely verbal support.
"We ask for writing. But that process was even met. So it was not the individual chairman. But indeed the voting rights holders represented. What they brought was collective," he said.
